My first exposure to democratizing art was as a child growing up in Manhattan across the hall from legendary Rosa Esman at 4 East 95th Street In 1964 she published ”Seven objects in a box” (Tanglewood Press) with Oldenburg`s baked potato, a Lichtenstein sunset, Wesselman nude in plastic, Warhol’s Kiss in plexi, Jim Dine, George Segal and Allan D’Arcangelo. Across the hall we were more a mix of danish modern furniture and old masters, my great uncle was an art dealer in vienna in the 1920’s. My mother studied painting with Andre Lhote in Paris in 1947. I loved pop art, grew up with it, Warhol’s flowers were my mother’s milk.

I studied Art History with Mrs.Alfred Barr at the Spence School, at Georgetown, including with the curator of Italian painting at The National Gallery in DC., Impressionism at the Universite de Paris, and also in Siena and Florence. While at Columbia Business School I took classes in the Masters program of the Art History department. Rainer Crone was terrific on pop-art. Later classes at the New School, Christie’s NY Master’s program in Contemporary Art, NYU … and my education hopefully will never end!
I worked at several Galleries, and with international contemporary dealer Jan Eric Lowenadler-founder of Bonlow Gallery in the 80’s ( He just passed away and I miss him sorely). Then I went out on my own as art consultant and art advisor also working on various art related projects, curating and even new media ventures.
Art on the net was always something that interested me. In 1995 I took classes in New Media at NYU and worked on a project with the amazing but now defunct ”Voyager”. In 1999 I got pulled in (through my Swedish cousin and Result—see Robert) as a consultant to Art Around, a norwegian company set to establish a network of local art websites in various cities in Europé. Unfortunately the timing was off. We timed it perfectly with the dot com crash.
Fast forward to 2000 when I find myself in Stockholm and hook up with Lovisa Malmström to start dep, art, ment (homage to Claes Oldenburg’s store days) to publish and sell multiples. We have published numerous editions mostly by swedish artists, curated shows, and have our fingers in various project pies including as artists agents, and art consulting/advising.
My brother in law worked for years with Sebastian and Robert and when they asked him about doing something with art online, he hooked us up.
So I’m the ”art person” here.
In my various travels to art fairs and biennials and in the editions world, I have come across so many amazing printers and publishers that do such wonderful work with artists. I am excited to be able to offer them this forum for reaching a new inspired group of collectors. Galleries, curators and non-profits are welcome to promote their artists in this forum as well.
I love the idea of being able to present a particular artist and presenting work in various price categories so that someone can get their feet wet and then move up the scale till their home is filled to the brim with great art... ultimately overflowing into a private museum, or why not help ignite the fire to become a patron of artists?
We are getting there one step at a time. I look forward to having a vibrant exciting community that benefits everyone who loves art.
